Keurig B70 Reviews Consumer Reports

The Keurig B70 replaced my previous coffee maker that stopped working after my husband tried to use it to make his version of cocoa. We bought the Keurig at $ 166 which could be used for tea, coffee or cocoa. Definitely pricier than our last coffee maker, we still figured it was a good deal. After having used it for about a month, here is what I think.

- K-cups are available in a lot of variety with great prices (Green Mountain, Twinings, and Ghirardelli)
- Large water reservoir
- Easy to use
- Smart design
- Quick brewing
- Reusable coffee filter option

- Noisy pump
- Nozzle requires frequent clean up
- Inconsistent

We had bought the Keurig B 70 because it can brew more than just coffee but finding stores that sold K-cups of cocoa and tea was really a hassle. We ended up buying them online, which was less troublesome. The K-cups do not have much to offer as far cocoa and tea goes but they do have a pretty good range of coffees available, when we got tired of this we just used the coffee filter to brew our own.

There are consistency issues with the machine, it will brew one perfect and rich cup of coffee and then right after brew a really watery one. We still haven’t figured out why, but it probably has something to do with the machine brewing too fast the second time around and not absorbing any flavor from the grounds. Brewing with the smallest cup size twice to make one cup helps, although it is troublesome as it takes double the time.

Its design is smart and its bluish light is a pretty cool indicator, it flashes on and off when the reservoir needs more water or cleaning and looks really impressive. It’s pretty easy to clean and dishwasher safe.
The unit needs de-scaling after about a month and starts acting up if you don’t get around to it. The blue indicator will tell you when to do so, and if you still encounter problems try cleaning out the coffee filter and it will start working like a breeze again.

The machine needs some getting used to but once you figure out how you can make it work best for you, it’s a pretty decent buy. Go for it if you like a variety of blends and don’t mind 2 minutes of noise. All that said; the B70 gets 3 stars from me, good easy to use machine with slight problems.
